What is determiners ?
 Determiners are words which introduce a noun.
 Oneor more determiners can be found before a
noun.
 They do not have comparatives or superlatives.
Types of determiners

 Articles
 Demonstratives
 Possessives
 Quantifiers
Articles

 There are two kinds of articles: the definite


article (the) and the indefinite article a or an.
 Nouns can be found with or without articles.
Demonstratives
 Thereare four demonstratives: this, that,
these, and those
 For
there words to act as demonstratives, they
must be in front of a noun.
Possessive
 My,
your, his, her, its, our and their, before a
noun, will be possessive determiners.
 Mine,
yours, his, hers, its, ours and town, are
pronouns not determiners.
Quantifier
 How many or how much of something.
 Numbersbefore a noun are quantifier
determiners.
 Some, many, more, less, no, little, both, each,
all, enough, half, whole, every, any, much, few,
several, plenty, a lot and sample are all examples
of quantifier determiners.
 They must be before a noun other wise they act
as pronouns.
Examples of Article
 I was going to hills and saw a dangerous accident.
 His foot was injured and the Doctor advice him to take bed rest.
 What a wonderful city!
 The farmer is plowing the farmland.
 A few days back, we saw a huge lion in the forest.
 Do you want an extension to finish the major project?
 Her gossips are out of the world.
 This dog is from one of the special breeds.
 The lecture has been going so long.
Examples of Demonstratives
 That cat was adorable. (That is a determiner)
 That was adorable. (That is pronoun)
 Those children were so talented. (Those is a determiner)
 Those were awesome.(Those is a pronoun)
 You can’t control this dog.
 Those are fishs over there.
 Those workers are good at work who did this work last time.
 That car is shining brighter in the sunlight than daylight.
 These brownies are delicious.
Examples of Possessive
 Her gossips are out of the world.
 Host your guest and also his dog.
 Did mother find my shoes?
 Mrs. Baker wants to see your homework.
 Samantha will fix her bike tomorrow.
 The dog carried its young puppies two the kennel.
 Jack is in his bedroom.
 They took off their dirty shoes before entering the house.
 These are my childhood friends.
 What is your residential address?
Examples of Quantifier
 When two dogs fight over a bone, the third carries it away.
 Several dogs wandered off. (Determiner)
 Several wandered off. (Pronoun)
 Some nouns are countable, others are not you can use some quantifiers with
both sorts.
 There is still some of dirt on the table.
 Many of the adverts were rubbish.
 Most children start school at the age of five.
 We ate some bread and butter.
 We saw lots of birds.
 We saw some lions at the zoo, but we didn't see any tigers.
Sometimes determiners use the word “of” before
the noun.

 Most of the crowd thought it was a goal.


 He ate some of the chocolate.
 Many of the adverts were rubbish.
 Half of the bread was mouldy.
 He’s had plently of time to finish it.
 She wasted all of the money.
 Some of the geese had flown.
