Definition
Suggest means to give/propose an idea or plan for
someone’s consideration,
Suggestion can be in form of solutions, advice, plan,
and idea.

Social Function
To facilitate interpersonal communication between
different people.
SENTENCE PATTERNS

Subject + Verb (Suggest/recommend) + Gerund/Noun

e.g. : “Up” is a good movie. Ms. Dina recommends watching the movie.

Subject + Verb (Suggest/recommend) + That + Subject + Should +


Infinitive without to

e.g. : I suggest that he should take a rest.

Subject + Verb (Suggest/recommend) + Pronoun + to infinitive

e.g. : “Star of You” was a good novel. Mr. David suggested me to read the
novel.
