A. Suggestion (Saran)
 Meaning : a. Suggest means to present a suggestion that is to introduce or propose an
idea or a plan for consideration.
Suggest means to propose a plan. It can be accepted or refused.
Suggestion are abstract and can be in form of solution, advice,plan and
idea.

1.         Would you be so kind enough + to + Verb

Example :
Would you be so kind enough to go with me?
(Artinya : Maukah anda berbaik hati untuk pergi dengan saya?)
Would you be so kind enough to help me?
(Artinya : Maukah anda berbaik hati untuk menolong saya?)
Etc.

2.         I would be very grateful if you would ...

Example :
I would be very grateful if you would come to my party.
(Artinya: Saya akan sangat senang sekali jika anda mau datang ke pestaku)
I would be very grateful if you would help me to finish this task.
(Artinya : Saya akan sangat senang sekali jika anda mau membantu saya
menyelesaikan tugas ini)
I would be grateful if you would be here.
(Artinya : Saya akan sangat senang sekali jika kamu ada disini)
Etc.

3.         How/ what about + Gerund (Verb+ ing) ...

Example :
How about dancing? ( Artinya : Bagaimana kalau kita berdansa ? )
What about watching TV? ( Artinya : Bagaimana kalau kita menonton TV ? )
Etc.

4.         Suppose

Example :
Suppose you agree with my idea.
(Artinya : Mungkin kamu setuju dengan pendapat saya)
Suppose you can leave now.
(Artinya : Mungkin kamu dapat pergi sekarang)
Etc.

5.         Perhaps you would

Example :
Perhaps you would accept my proposal.
(Artinya : Mungkin kamu mau menerima lamaranku)
 Perhaps you would have a dinner with me.
(Artinya : Mungkin anda mau makan malam denganku)
Etc.

2. Social Function

Social Function of suggestion:

 To ask and give suggestion to someone and give responses to the suggestion whether
accepting or refusing it.
 To help someone who needs any suggestion or advice by giving our personal idea and
opinion in our daily life.

3. Formula

– Formal: S + Modal (should, ought to, could, etc) + V + complement

S + suggest + (that) + S + should + V + complement

– Informal : WH question → What about going to the cinema tonight?
