BARRIERS OF COMMUNICATION

 Communication is a need for a successful organization.

 Hurdles that come across within communication are the barriers.

 They can occur at any stage of the process.

 It includes message overload.


TYPES OF COMMUNICATION BARRIERS

 1. Physical Barrier:

 Due to the nature of the environment.

 2. Semantic Barriers:

 Refers to meaning of language used.

 Same words are often interpreted in different ways.

 Physiological Barrier:

 Results from individuals personal discomfort.


 Socio-Physiological Barriers:

 Attitude on opinion.

 Emotion.

 Closed Mind

 Status Conscious.

 Inattentiveness

 Environmental Barriers:

 Surroundings of the communication process.

 Organizational Barriers:

 Poorly structured communication can prevent the receiver from accurate interpretation.
 Cultural Barriers:

 Assumptions can cause misunderstandings.

 Noise Barriers:

 Noise is the causative factor for the message being misunderstood or

misinterpreted.
Possible Remedies to the barriers

 Avoid delay, distortion, and dilution.

 You must be clear about why are you communicating.

 You must be confident that the information you are sharing is accurate.

 Information that you want to communicate must be decoded easily.

 Convey information clearly and simply.

 You must know your audience.


 Avoid long statements.

 Avoid cultural confusion.

 Identify the difficult recipients and do not ignore their tactics.

 Maintain a communication flow.

 Communication though proper channel works out effectively.
