Addressed by : Saira Bano INTRODUCTION Communication will be effective only when the recipients understands,accepts & acts upon the information that has been transmitted to him .communication barriers causes breakdown of communication process leading to many managerial problems. It may be caused by many reasons such as poor vocabulary, poor communication skill ,lack of good judgement, wrong choice of medium, lack of knowledge about that topic etc. A properly selected media can add to the effectiveness of communication .At the same time a wrong choice of medium may acts as a barrier to it. Types of barrier
1.Physical or mechanical barrier.
2. Semantic or language barrier.
3. Personal socio-psychological barrier.
4. Cross cultural . PHYSICAL OR MECHANICAL BARRIER.

system. SEMANTIC & LANGUAGE BARRIER Communication consist of interpretation of symbols. Many words commonly used in communication carry quite different meanings for different person. To avoids semantic barriers we should prefer words which are familiar to receiver . We should make its meaning clear for the first time we use it. PERSONAL SOCIO- PSYCHOLOGICAL BARRIER • Communication interference that arises from human emotion ,values & poor listening. • They are common in work place. • All the personal feelings, desires, fears & hopes are formed by family background & social environment. • Problems of understanding communication arises from socially learn attributes & personal attributes. CROSS CULTURAL BARRIER • Culture is a shared set of values & attributes of a group.
• Culture is so much a part of an individuals
manner of talking, behaving & thinking.
• In business ,skill of communicating is very
