WHAT IS LI-FI ?

• LI-FI (Light Fidelity) is transmission of

data through illumination, such that:
sending data through LED light bulb that
varies in intensity faster than human eye
can follow.
• LI-FI is a light based WI-FI. It uses light in
instant of radio waves to transmit
information.
HISTORY

• This technology was introduced in 1990 in countries like Germany, Korea

and Japan where they discovered LEDs could be used to send information.
• Prof. Harald Hass from university of Edinburgh, has shown the World the
potential to use light for communication.
• He demonstrated in year 2012.
IMPLEMENTATION OF LI-FI

• The LI-FI product consists of three primary sub assemblies

• Emitter (LED transmitter, photo detector)
• RF Driver (power amplifier, uses LDMOS)
• Power Supply
1. RF Driver: used for controlling or handling the
circuit for digital and analog lightning controls.
2. Emitter: An emitter device is used to emit and
generate charged particles.
3. Power Supply: is an electrical device used to supply
electrical power to an electrical load for operation.
HOW LI-FI WORKS?

• Operational procedure is very simple, if the LED is on you transmit a digit 1, if its off
you transmit a digit 0.
• The LEDs can be switched on and off quickly, which gives opportunities for
transmitting data.Hence all that is required us some LEDs and a controller that code data
into those LEDs.
• We have to vary the rate at which the LEDs flicker depending upon the data we want to
encode.
• Thus, every light source will work as a HUB for data transmission.

APPLICATIONS OF LI-FI

1. In AIR CRAFTS: In aircrafts passengers get high charges on low speed internet, but
using LI-FI provides affordable fees for high speed internet.
2. HEALTH TECHNOLOGIES: WI-FI has been replaced by LI-FI in many hospitals
because use of wi-fi in hospitals interferes with mobile devices and computers that block
the monitoring equipment signals.
3. TRAFFIC-APPLICATIONS: LI-FI can be used in traffic management, which interact
with LED lights of vehicles such as buses, which can have viably dealing with traffic and
can regulate accidents by warning other drivers when vehicles are closed to each other.

4. DISASTER MANGAMENT: LI-FI can be used as ground breaking methods

of correspondence in the midst of disaster. Common dead zones do not impede
LI-FI.
5. POWER PLANT APPLICATION: LI-FI is progressively safe, bottomless
availability in all regions of power plants as utilization of WI-FI and other
radiation source is not acceptable.
