THE SOLUTION IS HERE
WHAT IS ?
is a initiative we students of Velammal give towards the
growth and development of agriculture.
 It is basically a set of solutions which when followed
can take India to next level within the year 2030 .
 It involves two different kind of solutions :
I. SMART FARMING
II. CHANGE IN GOVERNMENT POLICIES
.
 What is Smart Farming ?
Smart farming refers to managing farms using modern
Information and communication technologies to increase the
quantity and quality of products while optimizing the human
labor required.

Among the technologies available for present-day farmers are:

>>Sensors: soil, water, light, humidity, temperature management.

>>Software:  Specialized APPS and SOLVES specific AGRICULTURAL ISSUE.
>>Location: GPS, Satellite.
>>Robotics: Autonomous tractors, processing facilities.

agriculture farmers monitor and
optimize crops
AUTOMATIC SYSTEMS
I. K PLANT CUBE
 Plants require really low maintenance, and can be left for days without
supervision but our long trips extending over a week or 2 can be detrimental for
the health of plants due to the lack of moisture in the soil.

 To solve this problem, I came up with a solution of making an CUBE that acts
as AUTOMATIC PLANT BABYSITTER SYSTEM with an ARDUINO
UNO which will not only automatically IRRIGATE THE PLANTS, but also
MEASURES THE SOIL NUTRIENT LEVEL AND ADDS FERTILIZERS and
also CHECKS THE CLIMATE and NOTIFIES YOU ABOUT WEATHER to
keep your plant healthy and safe.

 It has a CUBE SHAPED BOX in which you should fill water or fertilizer, the
soil moisture sensor measures the soil moisture level and when the level
becomes zero , the pump will pump out water from the cube to the plant.
 COST OF ONE CUBE: 400 RS
THE CIRCUIT DESIGN OF MY PROJECT :
 You should
add the water
in the cube

will absorb the
water and
irrigate the

water, you can

DRONES
● Drones can help farmers to optimize the use of inputs (seed, fertilizers, water).
● Using drones farmers can react more quickly to threats (weeds, pests, fungi).
● Using drones Farmers can save time crop scouting (validate treatment/actions taken).
● Using Drones farmers can improve variable-rate prescriptions in real time and estimate
yield from a field.
WHAT CAN A DRONE DO
● Drones are used in other countries such as Japan for farming, We can also adapt them to use
them in our country. This can Improve the vision of the farmers on the their field and keep an
eye on it.
● It can also be used to Fertilize the Fields and they are effective and easy to work with. They can
cover 65 – 80 acres of land at a time.
Sensors
● Sensors used in smart farming are known as agriculture sensors.
These sensors provide data which assist farmers to monitor and optimize crops by adapting to
changes in the environmental conditions.
● These sensors are installed on weather stations, drones and robots used in the agriculture industry.
● They can be controlled using mobile apps specifically developed for the purpose.
● Based on wireless connectivity either they can be controlled directly using wi-fi or through
cellular towers with cellular frequencies with the help of mobile phone app
DIFFERENT SENSORS AND ITS
USE
SENSOR NAME USE OF THE SENSOR
These sensors determine latitude, longitude and altitude of
Location Sensors any position within required area. They take help of GPS
satellites for this purpose.
These sensors use light in order to measure properties of the
soil. They are installed on satellites, drones or robots to
Optical Sensors determine clay, organic matter and moisture contents of the
soil.

These sensors are used to measure soil compaction or

Mechanical Sensors mechanical resistance.

Dielectric Soil Moisture These sensors measure moisture levels of the

Sensors soil.
These sensors are used to measure airflow in the field. They are used in
APPS
Moreover, while 58% of Indian households still depend on Agriculture as their most
eminent source of livelihood, it’s time to give more focus on Digital Agriculture for a
growing and prosperous India.

 A farming app can be the best friend of farmers in farming which can enhance their
productivity without spending a single amount of money. You can easily download it
from your Google play store without paying a single rupee.

 IFFCO Kisan Agriculture aim is to help Indian farmers make informed decisions

through customized information related to their needs.

 RML Farmer- Krishi Mitri is a useful farming app where farmers can keep up with
the latest commodity and mandi prices, precise usage of pesticides and
fertilizers, farm and farmer-related news, weather forecasts, and advisory

 WE PERSONALLY SUGGEST THAT WE SHOULD CREATE AN APP IN WHICH

FARMERS CAN USE AS A SOCIAL MEDIA, WHERE THEY CAN POST ALL
THEIR PROBLEMS AND WHEN GOVERNMENT GETS NOTIFIED ABOUT IT ,
THRE ARE CHANCES OF IT BEING SOLVED. WE ARE WORKING ON IT AND
NAMED IT AS “FARMERBOOK”.
