NUTRITION
refers to the activities by which living things
obtain raw materials from the environment and
transport them into their cells. All the
elements and compound taken by living things
are nutrients.

called organic nutrients.
AUTOTROPH
an organism that can produce its
own food using light, water, carbon
dioxide or other chemicals
HETEROTROPH
an organism that cannot
manufacture its own food
and instead obtain its food
and energy by taking in
organic substances, usually
plants and animals.
