MATERIALS
DEFINITION
• A material is a substance that people find useful such that it is
produced for economic reasons. Materials are commonly used
to produce parts, components and products. They are also
used to build infrastructure, buildings and landscapes
BASE METAL
• A base metal is any metal other than noble metals or precious metals (gold, silver,
platinum, etc.). Base metals typically tarnish or corrode easily. Such metal will react with
dilute hydrochloric acid to produce hydrogen gas.
A second definition of base metal is the main metallic element in an alloy. For example, the
base metal for bronze is copper.
IRON
• Iron is a chemical element. It is a metal in the first transition series. by mass it is the most
common element on Earth. It can receive different treatments that give it different
properties and different uses. It is mainly used to make tools, structures and objects.

COPPER
• DEFINITION
Copper (from the Latin cuprum, and this from the Greek kypros, Cyprus), whose symbol is
Cu, is the chemical element with atomic number 29. It is a copper-colored transition metal,
that is, reddish-orange with a metallic luster that , along with silver, gold and roentgenium, it
is part of the so-called copper family, it is characterized by being one of the best conductors
of electricity (the second after silver).

• USE OF COPPER
The construction industry is one of the main consumers of copper, used for the wiring of
buildings, water and gas pipes, thermal systems, roofs, terminations, or as a structural
component.
