DEFINATION OF
CARBON FOOTPRINTS
 According To WHO, A Carbon Footprint Is A Measure Of
Impact ,our Activities Have On The Amount Of Carbon Dioxide
Produces Through The Burning Of Fossils Fuels And Is
Expressed As A Weight Of Co2 Emissions Produced In Tons.
 It Basically Corresponds To The Whole Amount Of Green
House Gases Produced , directly Or Indirectly.
GHGS

GREEN HOUSE GASES

 A greenhouse gas  absorbs and emits radiant energy within
the thermal infrared range, causing the greenhouse effect.
 The primary greenhouse gases in Earth's atmosphere
FROM WHERE THIS CONCEPT
ORIGINATED?
 The concept and name of carbon footprint derived from the
ecological footprint concept.
 It was developed by William E Rees and Mathis Wacker Nagel in
1990s.
 Carbon footprint is one of a family of footprints indicators which
also include ecological footprints, water footprints and land
footprints.
 The carbon part was popularized by a large complain of BP in 2005
designed by Ogilvy.
CAUSES
 Population growth and increase in consumption levels
 Increase in standards of living
 Household Emission
 Increase in energy consumption
 Deforestation
 Industrial processes
 Agriculture
 Vehicles (Road ways)
 Airplanes (Air ways)
 Ships (Water ways)
 Lobbying problems
 Lack of education
 Digital activities
STATISTIC DATA
CHALLENGES
 Climate Change/Global warming
 Depletion of Resources
 Air pollution
 Acid rain
 Effects on humans
 Effects on animals
 Effects on plants
 Effects on aquatic life
 Effects on the global environmental system
SOLUTIONS
 Always follow 5 R’s
 Use Carbon Footprint Calculator
 Plant Pongemia Tree
 Kyoto Protocol should be followed
 Go vegan.
 Buy energy-efficient household devices.
 Install a cool roof.
 Buy a laptop, not a desktop computer.
 Replace lights with LED lights.
OUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Me And You Role And Responsibility
 Nukkad Naatak
 Go green workshops
 Applications to monitor personal carbon footprint in one’s own mobile:

❖ Zero Carbon

❖ The Extra Mile

❖ My planet

❖ Direct Gov Calculator

❖ Carbon footprint
OUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Role And Responsibility Of The Government

 Awareness programs can be organized by the government beginning from The
Grass root level.
 Grants can be given to honor those organization which are coming forward for
plantation of more trees.
 Role And Responsibility Of UNO
 International organization is also contributing to minimize the bad effects of
carbon footprints.
 UNO should come forward to take strict action against those countries which are
contributing a lot to increase the danger of carbon footprint.
OUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Role And Responsibilities Of NGO’s

 Undoubtedly many NGO's are also working for it.
 Common people should be made aware of all these NGOs:
❖ Fair Climate network
❖ World Wildlife Fund
❖ Go Carbon Neutral
❖ Cloverly
SUGGESTIONS
 Pollution check Devices
 Smog monitor
 Use of CNG Vehicle should be encouraged.
 Proper monitoring of Industrial Waste.
 Steps should be taken for GO GREEN CITY

CONCLUSION

 No doubt technology has given wings to us.

 We have all the comforts to enjoy our life. But misuse of those comforts is
taking us towards disaster.
 This is the time we should not look upon each other to stop themselves first,
rather we should start from ourself only.
 So, lets all join hands to work collectively to minimize our contribution for
carbon footprints.
