SIMPLE PAST TENSE
Simple Past Tense

It tells us about an action which happened in the


past and is over.

Rule: Subject + past form of verb)+ Object


Examples:

2. The baby cried bitterly.
3. She went to her uncle’s house.

PAST CONTINUOUS TENSE
PAST CONTINUOUS TENSE
It tells us about an action that was going on at some point of time in
the past or when some other action was going on.

• Rule: Subject + was/were + verb+ing + Object

Examples:
1. The queen was sleeping in her room in the evening.
2. They were talking slowly while their teacher was teaching.
3. She was missing her parents.
4. I was listening to music at 5 pm.
