 Past simple

• A verb tense which is used to describe

things or actions at a specific time in
the past.
For example:
I play badminton in the sport center every single day.
Yesterday, I played football with my dad.
 Past simple

o Signal words:
• yesterday
• ago (2 hours ago, 3 weeks ago)
• in + time in the past (in 2000)
• when (in the narration)
• Ex: When I was young, when I was 10
years old, when we played together,…
Structures: Verb to be
(was/were)
I/ He/ She/ It + was + N/ Adj
Affirmative:

You/ We They+ were + N/ Adj

Negative: S + wasn’t/ weren’t + N/ A

Interrogative: Was/ were + S + N/A?

Wh- question: Wh-word + was/ were + S?
