There was a boy named Gao
Sheng which means “Tall and
Victorious”. His name was
given by his parent who wish
him to grow healthy and able
to handle all the challenges in
his life. Unfortunately, he was
short-grown and has low self-
esteem. Therefore, he named
himself Cloud Tan in his
social media.
Gao Sheng always helps his
father in his family ‘s grocery
shop. One day, an old man
came to the shop asking for
medical oil. In the picture, he
seems as tall as the old man,
but actually he stood on a
small chair.
This man next to Gao Sheng
was his driving lesson’s
teacher. While learning to
drive, Gao Sheng needed to
adjust the car seat closer to
the steering wheel since he is
short. He had a doubt that he
will always see less of the
world. He always asked
himself whether he can
overcome all the challenges
thrown to him.
The picture shown that Gao
Sheng was coming back from
school, he wore the high
school uniform, but he still
looked like a primary school
student. He always greeted
his father well with manners,
he was a filial child.
Gao Sheng had dinner with
his parents every night. His
parents took care of him. Gao
Sheng’s mother always
cooked long beans for him,
would he became tall after ate
the long beans?
This picture showed a raining
night. Gao Sheng was sad, he
kept on asking of the same
question, why did his parents
choose these two names (tall
and victorious) for him?
During that rainy night, Gao
Sheng family’s shop was
flooded. Gao Sheng’s father
busily moving the goods to a
higher place. His father was
overloaded and was sent to
the hospital.
Since his father has been Gao Sheng started to collect
admitted to the hospital, Gao sundry goods from his
Sheng took the responsibility to father’s shop and sent them to
clean up all the mess. He the flood victims.

grocery shop. He started to
think about what his mother
said to him. Gao Sheng’s
mother asked for his
forgiveness because they didn’t
mean for people to make fun of
his name. His mother wanted
him to be kind and giving the
people a second chance. She
wanted him to become stronger.
He wanted to help everybody
who lost their homes. He
began to understand the
significance of the name
given by his parents; “Tall
and Victorious”. He believed
he will be able to face all the
challenges in his life.
Gao Sheng was having a
reunion dinner with his
family. His parents sat at both
of his sides, his mother took
care of him very well. He was
happy now because he knew
what his parents expect of
him. His parents always
believed in him. “Grow up
well, overcome all
challenges”.
Gao Sheng started to use his
real name in the social media,
he is no longer a low self-
esteem person because he
knew his name means more
than words, it carries his
parents’ hope.
