2nd Agenda:
History Of Biotechnology
Before taking a peak of the timeline, you must first know some
keywords and the origins of biotechnology.
Next

History Of Biotechnology:
BIOTECHNOLOGY
The term “Biotechnology” was first used by Karl
Ereky in 1919 in a book called "Biotechnology of
Meat, Fat and Milk Production in an Agricultural
Large-Scale Farm

The term “Biotechnology" indicated the process by

which raw materials could be biologically upgraded
into socially useful products.

History Of Biotechnology:
BIOTECHNOLOGY
In both of these definitions, you see the term living
things. Throughout the module, you will often see the
word organisms used instead of living things.

These things are so small that you can see them only by
viewing them through the microscope. These very small
things are called microorganisms. Biotechnology aims
to make use of living things to improve or benefit
people’s lives.
Back

History Of Biotechnology:
BIOTECHNOLOGY
Biotechnology is not a new technology as it had been
traditionally used by man since time immemorial without
knowing the scientific principles involved in the process.

Biotechnology as explained above has the newest roots

in the science of molecular biology, genetic engineering,
and microbiology.

Biotechnology has now become a key to boost the

economy and health industries of different nations.
