SKILL-RELATED FITNESS
REFERS TO ABILITIES THAT HELP PEOPLE LEARN SKILLS. THE
SIX PARTS OF SKILL-RELATED FITNESS. THIS INCLUDES AGILITY,
BALANCE, COORDINATION, POWER, REACTION TIME, AND SPEED.
OBJECTIVES:
• YOU WILL ABLE TO KNOW THE FUNCTIONS OF AGILITY AND SPEED AS PART OF
THE SKILL-RELATED FITNESS.
• PRESENTING THE RIGHT PROCEDURE OR STEPS OF ILLINOIS TEST AND
HEXAGON AGILITY TEST.
• YOU WILL ABLE TO HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE TO EXECUTE 40 METER SPRINT
UNDER THE SPEED.
GOALS:
• TO IMPROVE YOUR SKILLS IN PHYSICAL FITNESS.
• TO KNOW HOW TO CONDUCT AN EXERCISE THAT REQUIRES A LOT OF
MOVEMENT
• TO GAIN KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, AND APPLY IT IN FUTURE PURPOSES.
AGILITY:
• AGILITY OR NIMBLENESS IS AN ABILITY TO CHANGE THE
BODY'S POSITION QUICKLY AND REQUIRES THE
INTEGRATION OF ISOLATED MOVEMENT SKILLS USING A
COMBINATION OF BALANCE, COORDINATION, SPEED,
REFLEXES, STRENGTH, AND ENDURANCE.
ILLINOIS AGILITY TEST (IAT)
• THE ILLINOIS AGILITY TEST IS A FITNESS TEST DESIGNED
TO TEST ONE'S SPORT AGILITY. IT IS A SIMPLE TEST
WHICH IS EASY TO ADMINISTER AND REQUIRES LITTLE
EQUIPMENT. IT TESTS THE SUBJECT'S ABILITY TO TURN
IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS AND QUICKLY CHANGE
SPEEDS.
MATERIALS:
•EIGHT CONES/BOTTLES
•STOPWATCH
PROCEDURE OF IAT:
• THE ATHLETE WARMS UP FOR 10 MINUTES
• THE ASSISTANT SETS UP THE COURSE AS DETAILED IN THE DIAGRAM
• THE ATHLETE LIES FACE DOWN ON THE FLOOR AT THE “START” CONE/BOTTLE
• THE ASSISTANT GIVES THE COMMAND “GO” AND STARTS THE STOPWATCH
• THE ATHLETE JUMPS TO THEIR FEET AND NEGOTIATES THE COURSE AROUND THE CONES
FOLLOWING THE RED LINE ROUTE AS SHOWN IN THE DIAGRAM TO THE FINISH

• THE ASSISTANT STOPS THE STOPWATCH AND RECORDS THE TIME WHEN THE ATHLETE
PASSES THE “FINISH” CONE.
INTERPRETATION:
•THE ATHLETE WILL BE ABLE TO ASSES AGILITY AFTER
CONDUCTING THE TEST.
HEXAGON TEST:
• THE HEXAGONAL AGILITY TEST IS A MEASURE OF SPEED, AGILITY
AND THE ABILITY TO CHANGE DIRECTION WHILE MAINTAINING A
SOUND BALANCE (FOUNDATION). INCREASING AGILITY WHILE
MAINTAINING SPEED FACILITATES ADVANTAGES OVER
OPPONENTS AND HELPS TO MOVE QUICKLY INTO POSITION IN
ORDER TO ENHANCE TACTICS AND TECHNIQUE (SKILLS).
MATERIALS:
•STOPWATCH
•CHALK
PROCEDURE:
• MAKE A HEXAGON ON THE FLOOR
• STAND IN THE CENTER OF THE HEXAGON WITH YOUR FEET NEXT TO EACH OTHER
• JUMP OVER THE LINE IN FRONT OF YOU AND THEN JUMP BACK INTO THE HEXAGON (OVER THE
SAME LINE)

• NOW JUMP OVER THE LINE NEXT TO IT AND JUMP BACK AGAIN
• REPEAT THIS UNTIL YOU HAVE JUMPED OVER ALL THE LINES.
• IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOUR HEAD REMAINS FACED FORWARDS.
INTERPRETATION:
•THE ATHLETE WILL HAVETHE ABILITY TO MOVE
QUICKLY WHILE MAINTAINING BALANCE.
SPEED:
• THE ABILITY TO MOVE ALL OR PART OF THE BODY AS
QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. SPEED IS IMPORTANT IN
SPRINTING, SPEED SKATING, SPRINT CYCLING AND
SPORTS SUCH AS TENNIS WHEN A PLAYER HAS TO
MOVE FORWARD QUICKLY FROM THE BASELINE TO
REACH A DROP SHOT CLOSE TO THE NET.
40-METER SPRINT:
• THE TEST INVOLVES RUNNING A SINGLE MAXIMUM SPRINT OVER
40 METERS, WITH THE TIME RECORDED. A THOROUGH WARM UP
SHOULD BE GIVEN, INCLUDING SOME PRACTICE STARTS AND
ACCELERATIONS. START FROM A STATIONARY POSITION, WITH
ONE FOOT IN FRONT OF THE OTHER.
MATERIALS:
• MEASURING TAPE OR MARK TRACK
• STOPWATCH
• CONE MARKERS
• FLAT AND CLEAR SURFACE OF ATLEAST 60 METERS
PROCEDURE:
• THE TEST INVOLVES RUNNING A SINGLE MAXIMUM SPRINT OVER 40 METERS, WITH THE TIME RECORDED.
• A THOROUGH WARM UP SHOULD BE GIVEN, INCLUDING SOME PRACTICE STARTS AND ACCELERATIONS.
• START FROM A STATIONARY POSITION, WITH ONE FOOT IN FRONT OF THE OTHER.
• THE FRONT FOOT MUST BE IN THE STARTING LINE.
INTERPRETATION:
• THE ATHLETE HAVE DETERMINE HIS/HER
ACCELERATION AND SPEED.
