INTRODUCTION
The study “Students Preference of Learning Method in Buenaventura Alandy
National High School”, seeks the learners learning preferences. This preferences
are modalities implemented according to the learners needs which are: Modular,
Distance Learning, and Face-to-Face Classes. Online distance learning means you
are studying online with your classmates via video conferencing apps like zoom,
google classroom and others. Modular distance learning means the teacher will
distribute learning tools then the students will study and answer it by themselves.
Face-to-Face learning is where the students go to school, meet physically, and
study together. This research aims to know the struggles of students during
modular, distance learning, and face-to-face classes, to help them coping with the
new normal, to address the issues and the problem and provide a blended learning
method for learners.

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

With the emergence of COVID-19, schools are forced to close
and with the implementation of Distance learning, many students
have shown signs of increased stress levels. According to a
study by Erin Einhorn (2021), “There’s no question that the
pandemic has been hard on children, whether or not their
schools have reopened. A flood of research in recent months has
found alarming spikes in depression and anxiety among children
and their parents.” Further studies have also shown similar
results. Research by DestinationsForTeens.com states that
distance learning have exhibit negative effects on students
mental health.

THE FOLLOWING NEGATIVE EFFECTS ARE PROVIDED

BY DESTINATIONSFORTEENS.COM:
• Loneliness and isolation
Online learning separates your teen from classmates. Depending on your family
situation, teens might be spending all day alone.
• Physical strains
Staring at a screen all day, perhaps lacking a proper chair, squinting through glare —
these can take a physical toll.
• Changes in instructional support
Being in a classroom with a teacher means there is always available to answer
questions or solve problems. The online environment inhibits one-on-one interactions.
• Increased workload
Online learning comes with the expectation that a student will understand and properly
navigate new technologies such as Zoom or WebEx.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

Students are likely to propose face-to-face learning if
they were able to attend school. This is due to the fact
that they would be more active and engaged in their
learning if they were physically present in the
classroom. Although there are some benefits to
modular distance learning, the consensus is that being
present in school is preferable to learning from home.
Additionally, research has shown that modular distance
learning results in lower grades than traditional modes
of instruction.

INTERPRETATION
It is clear that students generally prefer traditional classes over
modular ones. This is likely due to the fact that they find it easier to
understand the lessons when a teacher is present in the classroom,
as opposed to having to work on their own. Furthermore, fewer
distractions in the classroom can be beneficial for students, as they
are more likely to stay focused and work hard, rather than be pulled
away by electronic devices or other outside stimuli. This can also
help reduce anxiety, temper tantrums, procrastination, and other
negative emotions when teaching together as a team. As such, it is
easy to see why traditional classes are preferred by many students.

CONCLUSION
In summary, face-to-face classes, online distance classes, and
module classes offer different learning methods for students.
While many students may opt for face-to-face classes due to
the direct interaction between the adviser and the learner, as
well as the ability to learn from each other, it is important to
note that there are potential drawbacks to this type of learning.
Specifically, depending on the amount of material being
learned, there can be negative consequences for the learner. It
is thus essential that students take into account their own
situation, both at school and at home, before making a
decision about which learning method to pursue

RECOMMENDATION
We recommend our research to the students of Buenaventura Alandy
National High School, as it can help them make an informed decision
about which learning modality is best suited to their individual learning
needs. Moreover, this research can also aid teachers in their efforts to
provide the best instruction for their students. If the students are having
difficulty understanding the material, the teachers may need to adjust
their teaching methods to ensure that the students are able to learn in the
most efficient way possible. For future researchers, this research can be
a valuable resource, as it can provide them with a foundation of
knowledge upon which to build their own research. We believe that this
research can help future researchers save time and energy in their
research endeavors.
