Spelling Rule

Singular: means only one.


Plural : means more than one.
• Most singular nouns take “s” in the
plural form.
◦Ex: plant-plants tree-trees
• If the singular words end with
(ch-sh-s-ss-x) They take “es” in the plural form.
◦Ex: peach- peaches fox-foxes
• If the singular words end with
(Y) They take “ies” in the plural form and cross (Y).

◦Ex: baby- babies lily - lilies


PENNIES

Plural of penny= coins Ex: There


are hundred pennies in a dollar.
INCHES

Plural of inch A unit to measure


Ex: There are 12 inches in one
foot.

Plural of plant Ex: I put many
