I am teacher Melanie Ordanel, you can call me teacher Mhel, and today I’m going

to be your English teacher.

1. Review

Let us recall our lesson yesterday. Can anyone tell me what is it all about?

Yes! Yesterday, we talk about nouns.

What are nouns again?

That’s right. Nouns are names of person, thing, place, animal, or event.

2. Motivation

I have here some pictures. I want you to look at them and tell me what they

are.

B. Presentation

Let us compare the pictures in column A with the pictures in column B by

counting.

How many cats are there in column A?

How many boxes are there in column A?

How many babies are there in column A?

How many schools are there in column A?

How many birthdays are there in column A?

Now let us count the pictures in column B.

How many cats are there in column B?

How many boxes are there in column B?

How many babies are there in column B?

How many schools are there in column B?

How many birthday are there in column B?

Now let me ask you a question.

What do you call those nouns in column A?

Do you have any idea?

We call them as singular nouns.

Singular noun is a form of noun which refers to only one noun.

We form them by writing the root word.

Examples are: cat, box, baby, school, party

How about the picture in column B?

What do you call them?

We call them as plural nouns.

Plural noun is a form of noun which refers to two or more nouns.

Examples are: cats, boxes, babies, schools, parties

How do we write the plural form of the nouns?

C. Discussion

Let us read the poem entitled

“Foxes in Boxes”

A mother fox had many foxes

So many that they lived in boxes.

The mother she made lots of socks

For each and every little fox.

The foxes they love to eat snacks

The mother would put them in packs

Out of the boxes

And on the school buses

To school with their snack packs,

No time for fusses.

They wave goodbye

And mom replied,

“Such nice and sweet little foxes.”

What can you say about the poem?

Did you like it?

Did your mother also pack foods for you when you come to school?

That’s nice! All mothers do take care of their kids in different ways that is why

we should always be thankful for the unending love and care of our mothers.

Can you identify the plural nouns in the poem?

foxes boxes socks snacks packs buses fusses

Now, how do we write the plural form of the nouns?

There are different ways and rules to do that.

however, there are nouns ending in o that have two plural forms, such as

theses nouns.
