FOOTING DIMENTION According to :
1. SNI, depth of investigation is
a. d+3B = 0,4+3*4,3 = 13,3 m
b. > 6 m
Zi by SNI is the deepest betwin a and b, Zi=13,3 m
2. Design Tables of Burt Look, Zi = 4B
Zi = 4* 4,3 = 17,2 m
3. Isobars of the vertical stress under footing 5 %based on the
Boussinesq Equation , Zi about 2,5 B = 2,5* 4,3 = 10,75 m
4. the vertical stress under footing 5 %based on the Approximate
method Zi iis about 7 m, or about 2B.

B= 4,3 m
Refers to calculation above, for design and
implementation minimum 7 m depth must be
considered.
As state in design analysis of retaining wall KM 10,
designer already gave guide to easier implementation
on site, with CBR 6%.
DCP TEST
For In Situ CBR

1. Depth range test

about 1 m
2. Value of Site CBR
readable per blow and
penetration
3. There are many
formulas to calculate
CBR
IN SITU CBR by FIELD CBR
& Deth of Influence

1. Cross section area of the penetration rod is 1936

mm2 ( 3 inch2 ), so Diametre of the rod is 5 cm
2. Refer to isobars of vertical stress based on
Boussinesq for circular footing the depth of influence
for 0,5% of stress is about 3B, or for B=5cm, the
depth is about 15 cm.
3. Site CBR is suitable to CBR test for depth of layer
circa the depth of influence, for example test for
aggregate Base, a layer of embankment.
FIELD CBR COMPARISON WITH DCP

IN SITU CBR by IN SITU CBR BY

FIELD CBR DCP
1. Depth of range about 15 cm 1. Deth of range about 1 m
2. Suitable for testing layer per layer 2. Suitable for testing material with a
material with a thickness of about 15 cm thickness of about 100 cm
3. requires conversion to be equal to soak 3. Srequires conversion to be equal to soak

CBR VALUE BY DCP METHOD
CBR VALUE BY DCP METHOD
1. One factor related strength of soil is about water
content. Where water content exceeds optimum
moisture will tend to reduce of soil strength
2. At site, on existing condition regarding to the
note above, Manual Perkerasan Jalan , recommend
using correction factor adapted to seasonal
conditions
IMPROVING CBR VALUE
If the CBR subgrade is found to be less than 6%,
according to the Manual Perkerasan Jalan,
improvements can be made by making several layers
of stronger material in order to obtain an equivalent
CBR value that meets the requirements.
Manual Perkerasan Jalan recommend the formula to
calculate the equivalent CBR as follows
