01 INTRODUCTION AND NEED OF STUDY

According to Yung and Chan, “Adaptive reuse is a new kind of

maintainable rebirth of the city, as it covers the building’s lifetime and
evades destruction waste, encourages recycles of the embodied
dynamism and also delivers substantial social and economic profits to
the world”.
When adaptive reuse is carried out, an amalgamation of uses occurs,
resulting in a livelier atmosphere. When implemented efficiently,
adaptive reuse ensures that the structure preserves its essence while
remaining practical Understanding why buildings fail enables us to
prevent more buildings from being abandoned.
02
AIM
This dissertation seeks to understand building’s fall into
disuse , and the structure repurposed before it is
abandoned.
OBJECTIVE
 To see how adaptive reuse can help to create a new
identity while maintaining the integrity of building.
 Analyze the effectiveness of adaptive reuse to
increase life span of the building
 Understanding of the pros and cons of adaptive
reuse.
SCOPE
• To study previous building designs and its evolution
in modern architecture.
• The research will discuss the techniques, types, and
methods of applying adaptive reuse.
• The study also considers the impact of the
development on the community and the area itself.
RESEARCH PLAN

Introduction To discover and research various methods for Adaptive reuse of abandoned buildings

Theoretical understanding Setting up the analysis target by defining the scope.

Literature case studies Case studies on types of structures used for adaptive reuse. Break down a case study to see what
works in adaptive reuse and what doesn't

Shortcomings or limitations Gather a holistic understanding of the pros and cons of adaptive reuse.

Techniques to retrofit understanding the reasons for abandonment, And viewing adaptive reuse as one of the solutions to
revive the structure. And its application

Conclusion Learnings and conclusion
