• The Paralympic are split into two : Winter Games and Summer Games
• Sports equipment for the Paralympics may be modified for specific disabilities. 
• The Paralympics have been held in the same city that hosts the corresponding Olympic Games
Who Invented Paralympic Games ?

The Paralympics developed after Sir Ludwig Guttman organized a sports competition for
British World War II veterans with spinal cord injuries in England in 1948.

Born July 3, 1899

Neurosurgeon 
Guttman was the recipient of numerous awards and honours
In 1944 Sir Ludwig Guttman became head of the National Spinal Injuries
Centre at Stoke Mandeville Hospital

Guttman championed the concept of early treatment for injured

servicemen

Promoted the use of compulsory sport and physical activities as a form of

rehabilitation,

He organized an archery contest between 16 disabled patients

The following year more events and participants were featured
