1. Proper nouns
- the names of specific people and specific
places.

Example:
Nancy is very charming.
Palawan is our fifth largest
island.

2. Mass nouns
- cannot be preceded by a/an or a numeral
- neither be counted nor measured.

Example:
I like rice for breakfast.
Pass some salt, please.

3. Count nouns
- used both in singular and plural and can
follow by a/an or a numeral.

Example:

I like to have a cup of rice for breakfast.


Give me two teaspoons of salt, please.

4. Collective nouns
- indicate a group of persons or things
taken as a unit.

Example:
I am in the committee on membership.
The audience was enthusiastic.

- names applied to any one of a class of
persons, places or things.

Example:
Our country is fascinating. (common noun)
Philippines is fascinating.
