Reactions
It is a reaction in which two or more
reactants combine to form a single
product.

Combinatio It is also known as a synthesis reaction

The basic reaction:

n Reaction
Example of a combination reaction : 2Na + C 2NaCl
It is a reaction in which a single
compound breaks into two or more
simpler compounds.

It is the opposite of a combination

reaction.

Decompositio The reaction in which a compound

decomposes due to heating is known as a
n Reaction thermal decomposition reaction.

The basic reaction:

For Example: CaCO3 → CaO + CO2

A chemical reaction in which a more
reactive element replaces a less reactive
element from its aqueous salt solution.

It is also called a substitution reaction.

Displacement The basic reaction:

Reaction

Example of displacement reaction: Zn + CuSO4 →

ZnSO4 + Cu
A chemical reaction in which ions gets
exchanged between two reactants which
form a new compound is called a double
Double displacement reaction.

It is also called a metathesis reaction.

Displacement The basic reaction:

Reaction
Example : BBaCl 2 + Na 2 SO 4  → BaSO 4 +
2NaCl
