acronym that stands for lesbian, gay,
bisexual, transgender, intersex,
queer/questioning, asexual. Many other
terms (such as non-binary and
pansexual) that people use to describe
their experiences of their gender,
sexuality and physiological sex
characteristics
LESBIAN
• Lesbian: A woman whose primary
sexual orientation is toward people
of the same gender. LGBT:
Abbreviation for Lesbian, Gay,
Bisexual, and Transgender. An
umbrella term used to refer to the
community as a whole.

BISEXUAL
• Bisexual: A person whose primary
sexual and affectional orientation is
toward people of the same and
other genders, or towards people
regardless of their gender. Some
people may use bisexual and
pansexual interchangeable
TRANSGENDER
• Transgender: An adjective used most
often as an umbrella term and
frequently abbreviated to “trans.”
Identifying as transgender, or trans,
means that one's internal knowledge of
gender is different from conventional or
cultural expectations based on the sex
that person was assigned at birth
INTERSEX PEOPLE
• Intersex people are born with
sex characteristics that "do not
fit the typical definitions for
male or female bodies".
QUEER
• Queer is an umbrella term for
people who are not heterosexual or
cisgender. Originally meaning
'strange' or 'peculiar', queer came to
be used pejoratively against those
with same-sex desires or
relationships in the late 19th century
ASEXUAL
• Asexual People who identify as
asexual experience little or no sexual
attraction to others. Asexual people,
or “aces,” often identify somewhere
on a spectrum that includes their
emotional, spiritual and romantic
attraction to other people
