Organization and Management of Sports
Management is the process by which key personnel provide
leadership so that an organization can function efficiently and
effectively in achieving the goal for which exist. It involves different
functions such as:
1.Planning . It is designing or identifying the
method to be used in managing activity.
2. Motivating. It is stimulating the desire and willingness of
everyone to work harmoniously and effectively.
3. Organizing. It is implementing the plan in a systematic way.
4. Staffing or Tasking. It includes assigning tasks to willing
and qualified people
5. Leading. It is supervising all personnel involved in the
program.
6. Controlling. It is the measurement and correction of
performance in order to make sure that objectives and plans are
accomplished.

DIFFERENT SPORTS COMMITTEE
1. FINANCE AND RESOURCES. Raises funds for the expenses of all
the committees and prepares statements of account at the end
of the meet.

2. PROGRAM AND INVITATION- prepares the program of activities

and invitations and sends them to all concerned in due time.
3. PEACE AND ORDER- provides and maintains round the clock
general order and security in all the venues.

4. PHYSICAL FACILITIES- prepares the necessary facilities and venues

needed in the sports events.

5. EQUIPMENT – makes sure that the equipment for the sports

events are available, in good working condition, and distributed
before the competition.
6. PRIZES AND AWARDS – prepares medal, trophies, plaques,
certificates, etc and awards to be given to the winners

7. TECHNICAL COMMITTEE – investigates and decides on all

protest, appeals, or violations regarding the conduct of the games.

TOURNAMENTS

Single Elimination - This type of elimination determines the winner
by eliminating the loser in every match until there is one team left.
This is the easiest and fastest way to declare a winner.

Formula: G=N-1 Where G- number of games
N- Number of teams

Example: N = 6
G = 6-1 = 5
After knowing the number of games to be played, the next step is to
determine the number of teams to play in the first round of the
tournament. To avoid having an uneven number of teams in the second
round of the tournament, the number of byes in the first round must be
determined first. A bye entitles a team to advance to the next round
without playing . to do this, the number of teams is subtracted from the
power of two( 2,4,8, 16, 32 etc)Which is immediately higher than the
number of teams:
Formula : Bye = P2 - N
Where P – least power of 2 higher than N
N – number of entries

Example: 6 - number of entry teams
8 – least power of 2 higher than N
Bye = 8 – 6
Bye = 2 ( number of byes)

On Failure

"The key to success is failure."

"I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. ...

"Failure makes me work even harder."

"I've never been afraid to fail."

"I know fear is an obstacle for some people, but it is an illusion to me. Failure always
made me try harder next time."
"If you do the work, you get rewarded.
There are no shortcuts in life.“

"I would tell players to relax and never think

about what's at stake. Just think about the
basketball game. If you start to think about who
is going to win the championship, you've lost
your focus."
