•Base – basic solid substance

•Binder/vehicle – wetting agent, dried
oil
Linseed oil, dehydrated castor oil,
bleach oil, fish oil.
•Pigments – forms the colour, in powder •Driers – drying agents.

• Organic pigment - pigment

Azo-orange to yellow,
phthalocyanine-blue, quinacridone-
rose.
• Inorganic pigment - pigments
that are not organic.
Nickel rutile-yellow, blue spinel
pigment, iron chromate-brown.

• Synthetic pigment – man-made

pigments.
Lake pigment – bluish green.

• Oil paint – white Pb as base; matte and
glossy finish.
• Enamel paint – Pb with varnish; glossy
finish.
• Emulsion paint – usual paints used in
homes
• bituminous paint - has asphalt or tar as
addictive, water resistant, black coloured.
• Cellulose paint - has celluloid sheet,
amyl acetate photographic films.
• Casein paint – casein with white
pigment.
• Aluminum paints – Al with varnish.
• Silicate paint – has silica; hardness.
• Thermoplastic paint- has aliphatic c5
HC.
• Anti-corrosive paint – has ZnO,
corrosion resistant.
