 M EC H A N I C A L SAFETY must conform
to ACC I D E N T PREVENTION
PROCESS (HIRARC).
 MACHINES are a source of severe accidents which
can result in:
 Crushed hands and arms
 Severed fingers
 Blindness
 DEATH
 Any machine part, function, or process that might
cause injury must be safeguarded. When the
operation of a machine may result in a contact injury
to the operator or others in the vicinity, the HAZARDS
must be ELIMINATED or CO N T RO L L E D (HIRARC).
