Leonardo da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452 in a small

town called Vinci, which is located near Florence.
Leonardo da Vinci was a skilled Italian painter, a talented
sculptor and architect, an intelligent engineer and
technician, a gifted scientist and botanist, a promising
anatomist and mathematician, a brilliant philosopher and
musician.
c
He was one of the most intelligent and talented
people of the Renaissance. His father, Piero da Vinci,
was a noble and wealthy notary who continued the
work of four generations of his ancestors.
Tank c

Working for the Duke of Milan

Ludovico Sforza, da Vinci offered him a
scheme of the military apparatus, which
contemporaries call the prototype of the
tank. It was a basin-like van in the shape
of a turtle, equipped on all sides with
thirty-six guns. In the middle of the idea
was to be eight people who drove the car,c
directing it into the ranks of the enemy
army. The car was moving thanks to the
gears.
Diving suit c

The diving suit was invented by Leonardo for

the Venetians, who constantly had to repel naval
military attacks. The suit consisted of leather, the
helmet was equipped with glass lenses, the
diver's shoes were loaded with metal. Da Vinci
divers could breathe with an underwater bell with
air, wore masks with glass holes through which
you could see underwater. In another version of
the concept, divers could breathe with the help c of
wine bottles filled with air.
Giant crossbow c

It was a giant crossbow that had lethal power.

Its length was 24 m. It had to be installed on a
trolley. The wheels of the cart were attached at an
angle to give it stability when firing. The boom
was to be made of a special section for strength
and flexibility. The bowstring was stretched with a
special fastener.

Propeller c

The da Vinci propeller is probably the coolest

project ever found in his notebooks. It would
work on the principle of a modern helicopter.
The flying machine looked like a huge turntable.
The "blades" of the helicopter were made of flax.
If untwisted quickly enough, they could create
traction, an aerodynamic phenomenon that
allows airplanes and helicopters to fly. The air
would create pressure under each of the blades,
c
thereby lifting the flying machine into the sky.

The idea, in any case, was this. Could such a

propeller fly? Unlikely . But it would be cool.
Machine gun c

The da Vinci machine gun or "33-barrel

body" was not a machine gun in the modern
view. It could not quickly fire bullets from a
single barrel. But it could fire volleys at short
intervals, and if it was built, it would
effectively mow the advancing infantry.
The mechanism of this machine gun is
simple. Da Vinci proposed to collect 11c
muskets on a rectangular board, and then fold
three such boards into a triangle.
