Contrastive conjunction adalah konjungsi (kata penghubung) yang

menghubungkan dua hal yang bertentangan atau berbeda.

Conjunctions adalah kata yang menghubungkan satu gagasan atau informasi

dengan gagasan atau informasi lainnya.

Tujuan menggunakan conjunctions yaitu membuat tulisan atau pembicaraan

menjadi mengalir. Dengan begitu, gagasan dapat disampaikan secara runtut.

Kata though adalah konjungsi yang sering digunakan dalam percakapan

informal. Though dapat diartikan meskipun atau walaupun.
Though + Clause 1 (Subject + Verb) + Clause 2 (Subject + Verb)
Clause 1 (Subject + Verb) + though + Clause 2 (Subject + Verb)
Contoh:
Though she is allowed to stay up late on the weekend, she decided to go to bed
early.
She decided to go to bed early, though she is allowed to stay up late on the
weekend.
Although dan even though memiliki arti yang sama dengan though, yaitu meskipun
atau walaupun.

Keduanya bersifat lebih formal daripada though.

Clause 1 (Subject + Verb) + although / even though + Clause 2 (Subject + Verb)

Contoh:

Although we do not have much, we still want to donate something.

Kata yet dan but digunakan dalam percakapan sehari-hari. Artinya adalah
tetapi.

 Despite / In spite of
Despite dan in spite of cukup formal, sehingga sering digunakan dalam tulisan atau
pembicaraan yang sifatnya formal.
Keduanya memiliki arti meskipun, walaupun, atau terlepas dari. Namun penggunaannya
berbeda.

Despite his achievements in school, John was barely appreciated by his parents.
We achieved this year’s selling target, in spite of the lack of support from the team leader.

 Nevertheless
Nevertheless memiliki arti walaupun begitu atau bagaimana pun juga. Kata
ini digunakan untuk menghubungkan dua kalimat yang berbeda.
Sentence 1 (Subject + Verb). Nevertheless + Sentence 2 (Subject + Verb).
Contoh:
The Government has established a policy related to public health insurance
since 2019. Nevertheless, the rate of people who have not applied to public
health insurance is still concerning.

However memiliki fungsi yang sama seperti but. Namun kata ini hanya
digunakan di awal kalimat.

Sentence 1 (Subject + Verb). However + Sentence 2 (Subject + Verb).
