SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

This study entitled “Mental Health and Academic Performance of Senior High School Students in
Zaragoza National High School” seek its importance to the following group of people and can be
beneficial to the following:

To the students. This will help them to have an effective and sustainable conducive learning
environment where learning process takes place. Having mental awareness increases knowledge of
mental illness. And with more knowledge, there is less stigma. This means that students who have or
suspect that they have mental illnesses may feel more comfortable reaching out for help.
To the parents. This will help the parents to know the struggle of their child as they undergo
poor academic performance and poor mental health.
To the teachers. This will guide them to apply mental awareness to avoid poor academic
achievements, to enhance and improve their classroom management and to allow them to become holistic
classroom managers and leaders.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
To the principal. The result of the study can be used as a basis to encourage his/her
teachers to apply mental awareness and to improve their classrooms and avoid poor academic
achievements.
To the school. The outcome of the study can be a basis for schools to have a seminar in
orienting teachers on how they will manage their classrooms, to make it more productive,
enhanced and an effective learning abode for students. And how they can apply mental awareness
to avoid poor academic achievements.
To the community. This will serve a guide for the community to know the struggle of
students who experience poor mental health and poor academic performance.
To the future researchers. The result will be a big help to them if they want to conduct
another study about mental health and academic performance or they want to do a broader
research about mental health and academic performance, to orient the public in its impact.

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION

The present study would only delimit on the relationship of Mental Health and Academic
Performance of Learners. The respondents of the study will be the randomly selected senior high school
students in Zaragoza National High School in San Rafael, Zaragoza, Nueva Ecija.
To provide solution on the problem of the study, the researchers first assessed students from
Senior High School using a questionnaire. The questionnaire’s questions relates on their mental health
and academic perfromance as a students. The result will be analyzed and interpreted by the researchers to
determine how mental health affects students’ academic performance.
It limited its coverage of students’ health , which may aid in identifying common problems that
they face and proposing potential solutions to these problem. This study was carried out to describe the
impact of mental health such as cognitive, emotional, and behavioral health to the academic performance
of senior high school students.
This study will be conducted on March 2022 to May 2022 at Zaragoza National High School.
