HOW TO CREATE EFFECTIVE

VISUALS

By, Brandon Judge

LIMIT THE INFO ON SLIDES

• It is very important to limit the number of words on a PowerPoint

• It helps not only keep your PowerPoint clean
• But it also helps students make sure they have the most important
information
USE PICTURES

• Pictures can help students visualize a concept

• For example: if you are teaching the water cycle it would help students see a
visual representation of it
MAKE SURE YOUR FONTS ARE VISIBLE

FONT COLOR FONT SIZE

• If you have light fonts on a light • Make sure your font size is not too small
background, it makes it invisible or too big
• Same thing if you use a dark font on a
dark background
ADD PICTURES
PICTURES

• Help illustrate important concepts or help students visualize what you are
talking about
• Do not use too many on one slide because it could be overwhelming for
students
VIDEOS

• Embedding videos into your powerpoints are also helpful in either reinforcing
your point or for helping students visualize
• Do not use a video that is too long
• Make sure the link to the video is functioning
