ABSTRACT

• No industry wants rejection in the production and maximum time consumption

during manufacturing operation. During the operation of producing holes on
two opposite sides of handles of bag trolley, the industries produce the holes on
one side in one stroke. Hence, there are chances of mistakes by the operator to
produce the holes on adjacent side and the time consumption is more. It is
important to produce the holes simultaneously on both sides (opposite) in one
stroke to minimize the mistakes and time consumption. It directly results in less
rejection and high productivity.
TITLE :- LUGGAGE-PULLING TASK EVALUATION
BY KINEMATICS AND SUBJECTIVE RATINGS
PROBLEM DEFINATION 1
During testing, the results of MANOVA and ANOVA revealed that the 110 cm handle and a 10° pole
influenced the kinematics of luggage such that it provided more clearance for the right leg. The 90° rotated
handle resulted in a neutral hand posture and was of advantage to luggage stability. 15 cm wheels allowed
a more natural motion of the right arm, and the 23 kg load and the middle position for the luggage center
of mass increased perceived exertion especially in the right arm. Carpeting was not significant due to the
inappropriate imitation of carpeting environment or a training effect that the subject can become used to
the experimental method of pulling luggage on the treadmill on the second day of the testing. Subject
height along with luggage-pulling speed was the most significant variable, affecting all body part
kinematics. Conclusively, pulling luggage is considered to be light work with moderate stress on users.
PROPOSED METHODOLOGY 1

• After being given the informed consent form, the subject was informed of
experimental methods. The experimenter attached markers to the
landmarks of the body and luggage, and measured the thickness between
anterior superior iliac spines and posterior superior iliac spines, length
between heel and second toe, and widths of elbow, wrist, knee, ankle, and
between right and left anterior superior iliac spines.
TITLE :- BIOMECHANICAL AND
PHYSIOLOGICAL ANALYSES OF A LUGGAGE-
PULLING TASK
PROBLEM DEFINITION 2

The purpose of this study was to identify the degree of physical stresses on two-wheeled carry-on
luggage users in terms of biomechanics and work physiology. Based on 3D kinematics, a 3D inverse
dynamic biomechanical model having fifteen segments was developed to evaluate a one-hand pulling
task. Joint reaction forces, joint moments and physiological variables (energy expenditure and heart rate)
were measured from four subjects who performed 32 luggage-pulling tasks on a doublewide treadmill in
the configurations of handle height (100 cm and 110 cm), handle rotation (0˚ and 90˚), pole angle (0˚
and 10˚), wheel diameter (8 cm and 15 cm), load weight (15 kg or 23 kg), center of mass (low and
middle), carpeting (no and yes), trial day (first and second) and subject height (short and tall).
PROPOSED METHODOLOGY 2

• Table 1 summarizes four male subjects who volunteered for the study and
were screened for injuries and other physiological problems. All subjects
provided informed consent prior to participation in accordance with
University Institutional Review Board requirements.
TITLE :- DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF
PORTABLE LUGGAGE CART
PROBLEM DEFINITION 3

Luggage is an intrinsic part of travelling. If it is heavy, carrying luggage is a difficult task for anyone.
There are many inventions made to resolve this issue. People use various trolley bags to carry
luggage. But the price of trolley bags are little higher and cannot be afford by everyone. A portable
luggage cart is the best solution to this problem. It is simple and can carry up to 150 kg. It is designed
in such a manner that it can be placed in a bag. When it is unfolded the size becomes double. The
present work concentrates on design of portable luggage cart and fabrication of the same.
PROPOSED METHODOLOGY 3

• Four steps are involved in the project. First step is the design of model
using CATIA. Second step is the analysis of the design using ANSYS.
Third step is prototype of design and the final step is the fabrication of the
final product
TITLE :- DESIGN ANALYSIS OF SUITCASE
STABILIZER AND ZIPPER PROTECTOR
PROBLEM DEFINITION 4
In recent years we have seen a major shift and trend to the use of four-wheeled suitcase with the reason of
easiness to manage and perhaps a better balance. Unlike four-wheeled suitcase with single storage platform
with the edge opening models which provide rolling stability and comfort handling, four-wheeled suitcase
with splitting storage platforms with the middle opening models is often given rolling instability and less
comfort handling because the underside sometimes is uneven position and affects the movement of the
wheels. Pushing beside and pulling behind a suitcase with rolling wheels instability over a long period of
time can induce musculoskeletal disorders.
PROPOSED METHODOLOGY 4

• There were 2 methods used in the research, questionnaire and simulation. Questionnaires
were used to know how the customer response to this product. Data collection to support
the solution through a questionnaire was distributed to 126 respondents who had
experience in using a four-wheels suitcase with a middle opening model. Then the data
is processed refers to the science of ergonomics and human factor engineering based on
the literature that has been done before through the journals, articles, books, and
websites. Data processing and analysis is continued by making conclusions based on the
problem statement, side stress simulation analysis and make suggestions of important
design factors to the fourwheeled suitcase manufacturers and users.
TITLE :- DESIGN AND ANALYSIS OF UNIVERSAL
TROLLEY CARRIER WITH STAIR CLIMBING
MECHANISM
PROBLEM DEFINITION 5
Rush at the railway stations and airports is common in country like India. In most of the cases, there are
limited number of escalators. One has to handle luggage manually. Carrying luggage with ordinary trolley
bags at the lengthy platforms and terminals are always difficult. Especially when one has to climb up &
down the stairs. Design a trolley carrier considering the problem of lugging about handling and
maneuvering. Situation becomes more difficult for elderly and women
PROPOSED METHODOLOGY 5

• Before start any task, One should have proper aware about the steps of following to complete it within
time. For in this case, Main focus on adding the features in such manner that it add the value of the design.
After many iteration of design, one can get a final design. After finishing the design part, analysis of the
design is important to make sure; this design is sustainable or not with applied load in given conditions
and it fulfil its purpose or not. These are the steps for modelling and analysis of object as shown below.
1. Literature Survey
2. Selection of feasible and value-added feathers
3. Selection of material
4. Design of universal carrier
5. Analysis of assembly
6. Documentation
