Instant Lock System

To cure Lost Circulation Zones

1
Introduction
 Instant Lock System utilizes C400 solutions. It can
be used to effectively seal problem zones of lost
circulation.
 The Instant Lock System utilizes the fact that a
solution of Sodium Silicate and water forms a rigid
semi-permanent gel when in a contact with a heavy-
calcium brine.
 The Instant Lock System forms a permanent seal
that can only be drilled out when it’s used as a
preflush for primary cementing in case of lost
circulation.
2
Instant Lock Fluids
The system consists of two main fluids:
 Calcium Chloride brine solution: 20% BWOW
of CaCl2 salt with fresh water. Mix thoroughly
till all salt is dissolved.
 Instant Lock solution: 50% C400 with fresh
water to make the instant lock Solution.

Generic Placement Technique
Prepare 20-bbl solution of calcium chloride brine by adding 1750 lbs of
Calcium Chloride to 20 bbl of fresh water and mix thoroughly.
In the batch mixer, add 20 drums of C400 to 20 bbl fresh water (40 bbl total)
and mix thoroughly
In another tank of the batch mixer have 50 bbls fresh water .
Pump 10 bbl of fresh water
Pump the 10 bbl Calcium Chloride solution.
pump 5 bbl of fresh water behind.
pump 20 bbls Sodium Silicate solution.
pump 5 bbl of fresh water behind.
Pump 10-bbl Calcium Chloride solution.
Pump 10 bbl fresh water behind.
Displace to needed depth (Volume of Drill Pipe)
