Pinball Machine

pneumatic
Originally, we were thinking
Concepts about creating a device that
would put a ball in a trash can.
However we scrapped that idea
early on for a pinball machine.

Original base plate

of the pinball
machine.
Unfortunately,after
it was scrapped, it
was cut up before a
good scan could be
made.
Playfield Dimensions

This contains the entire upper

part of the pinball machine. The
flippers, obstacles, ball launcher
support, are all here. The main
obstacles in the course aren’t
listed as they are terrible and
were just thrown in without
planning.
Walls and Floor Board Dimensions

The two side walls and the bottom floor board

are listed here. For the right side, the wall is
just mirrored.
Flipper Dimensions

The height is 0.7 inches, with both holes cutting completely through the shape. The right hand one is just
a mirrored version of this.
Ball Launcher

The diameter of the handle is 0.385 in

A small spring is placed at the very top of the

design to allow it to shoot up to launch the
ball.

Pneumatic Force Calculations

d = 0.7 in, p = 100 psi, F =?

p=F/A F = pA

A = π(0.35)^2

A = 0.3848 in^2

F = 100(0.3848)

F = 38.48lbs
Other Information

● The balls used are 0.5 inches in diameter.

● All the the electronics and pneumatic components are located within the space between
the playfield and the floorboard.
