HSSE Risk Management Structure
HSSE risk management is required at every level of the organization and at all Kent work locations.
The Kent HSSE risk management structure consists of 4 levels of risk management from a project risk
register to a point of work risk assessment.

• Facility risk assessments are developed for all non-project work

Job Hazard Analysis

Specific The JHA is required for all activities


A job hazard analysis (JHA) is a risk assessment process for a specific task
or job operation.

Supervisor Responsibility

StepBack
What is StepBack?
StepBack is a guided field-level hazard assessment tool.

The StepBack process requires all team members to step back 2 meters from
the activity and take 2 minutes to think about their working environment and
the activity they are to perform.

When do you do StepBack?


• Before you start work each day
• Before to start each activity
• Following a significant absence from a work area
• Following any change in activity or environment

All personnel who participate in StepBack shall print and sign to confirm their
understanding of the hazards and control measures.

Completed forms must be available at the immediate work location at all


times and accessible by every member of the work team.

All personnel will receive training in how to complete an effective StepBack


prior to commencing work activity on the project.

Review of HSSE Risk management program


Project review

The project audit and inspection program will be utilized to


monitor compliance with the risk management requirements.

The project HSSE risk management program shall be reviewed


as part of the management review process.

Corporate review
The corporate HSSE internal audit program will monitor for
compliance with the requirements of the HSSE risk management
requirements as part of the internal HSSE audits.
