Quantity Hedges

Hedges can be used to show that the speaker is conscious of the quantity
maxim.
(- When the affirmation of personal views shows that the information trying to convey is limited.
(- Giving notice that provided information is not as much or not as precise as might be expected.)

Examples:
a. As you probably know, I am terrified of bugs.
 b. So, to cut a long story short, we grabbed our stuff and ran.
 c. I won't bore you with all the details, but it was an exciting trip.
