• Education is extremely important in people's life. It
possesses significant features that will shape the future
and will serve as a key for all Filipinos to become full-
fledged, productive members of society. Education is a
learning process in which students can learn and acquire
Introduction knowledge from their teachers and fellow pupils in the
classroom. According to Prof. H. Mahmud Yunus,
education is a comprehensive endeavor aimed at
influencing and assisting youngsters with the purpose of
increasing their knowledge, physical abilities, and moral
character in order to lead them to their fullest potential.

The Covid-19 pandemic has posed tremendous challenges to people all over the
world, affecting educational sectors in various civilizations. Every government
is currently putting in place policies and processes to combat the virus. In the
Philippines, the new normal education has been taken into account in the
creation and implementation of the so-called “new normal educational policy”.
Rizal National High School is one of the institutions that uses SLMs,
specifically the modular distance learning strategy, o supply and assure that all
students have access to academic resources.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
• In this study, the researchers wanted to see if students' perceptions of face-to-face
learning differed considerably from those of modular remote learning. In line with
this, the purpose of this study was to compare the face-to-face learning strategy vs
the modular distance learning approach as regarded by students at Rizal National
High School.
• This study's goal is to provide answers to the following research questions:

• 1. What are the perception of grade 12 students on blended learning?

• 2. How grade 12 students deals with blended learning during this pandemic?

• 3. What variables influence students' perceptions of the modular distance learning

strategy and the face-to-face learning approach at Rizal National High School?

Review Of Related Literature
• According to Kapasia et al., students have been struggling with a variety of
challenges at home, including despair, anxiety, poor internet connectivity,
and an uneasy study environment. They conducted an online survey at
different institutions and universities in West Bengal, India, to gather
information on the impact of lockdowns during COVID-19 on
undergraduate and postgraduate students. A total of 232 students provided
complete responses to the survey. According to the researchers, students
from remote areas and underprivileged classes experience numerous
challenges in their education as a result of the pandemic. This research
proposes focused interventions to help students from underprivileged areas
develop a healthy learning environment.

• According to Bignoux and Sund (2018), when it comes to student
motivation, enjoyment, and interaction, the modular learning environment
is significantly different from the traditional classroom situation. Due to
the prolonged closure of schools and colleges, both educational
institutions and students are experimenting with ways to complete their
required syllabus in the allocated period in accordance with the academic
calendar. These actions have certainly caused some inconvenience. In the
impacted areas, educational institutions are looking for temporary ways to
keep teaching going, but it's vital to remember that the quality of learning
is dependent on the level of digital access and efficiency.

• According to Bigg (2003), Konopka et al., (2015); Crisol Moya, (2016);
Anderton et al., (2021); Garcia-Penalvo et al., (2021) Presence learning,
or face-to-face learning, is defined by both the students and the teacher
sharing the same physical classroom. Due to the nation's statement, this
style of teaching methodology could not be used from March to
September 2020. Because COVID-19 creates some devastation in the
field of education, this study is somehow related to ours. It does,
however, put a stop to the traditional learning methods that most students
benefited from in school.

Review Of Related Studies
• According to Malipot (2020) research, “Most Students Prefer ‘Modular’
Learning Over Online” stated that despite the pandemic, Education
Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones reiterated the DepEd's commitment to
providing quality education to all Filipinos and making education
accessible to all. Students appear to be able to cope with whatever
conventional changes may arise because Filipinos are tough and resilient
to any mishap. According to learner enrollment and survey forms, of the
DepEd's alternative learning modalities, 7.2 million student enrollees
preferred "modular" distance learning, TV and radio-based.

• According to Mark Antony Llego's (2020) research, "DepEd Learning
Delivery Modalities for School Year 2020–2021," modular distance
learning is a student learning at their own pace, in their own way, and
using self-learning modules (SLMs). Modular learning can be delivered
in either a printed or digital format to learners and other learning
resources such as learner's materials, textbooks, activity sheets, study
guides, and other learning materials.

• According to Jayaram and Dorababu (2020), in "Self-Learning Materials
in the Distance Education System," the success and effectiveness of
distance learning are dependent on the study materials. To meet the needs
and abilities of each student, DepEd prioritized self-study modules as the
primary learning tool that can serve all students, which can be combined
with other modes of learning delivery that students have access to. Self-
study materials rely on harnessing various modes and channels of
communication to adapt to the needs of learners. Teachers and students
are separated in distance learning, as in modular learning, so SLMs must
serve as teachers.
