PROJECTIONS
Third Angle
• United States
• When the object is drawn below the
horizontal plane and behind the
vertical plane.
First Angle
• Europe & Asia
• When the object is placed above the
horizontal plane and in front of the
vertical plane.
HIDDEN LINES
• Can show the object all the
way through, as if it were
transparent.
• Shows internal features.
• Dashed lines represent
features that would be hidden
behind other surfaces.
CENTER LINES
Center Line Pattern:
• Show the axis of symmetry for a
feature or part.
• Indicate a path of motion.
• Show the location for bolt-hole
circles and other circular
patterns.
VIEW CREATION from 3D
MODELS
3D to Orthographic:
• Simple to create orthographic
views from modeled 3D
components.
• Using the 3D object helps to
create the right projection.
