“Rizal At Ateneo de

Manila”
Rizal in Ateneo in 1872…
June 1872, Dona Teodora was imprisoned for
2 and a half years on trumped up charges of
poisoning her brother’s wife.

February 17, 1872, the execution of


GOMBURZA. (because they were against
with how Spaniards govern our country.)
After the execution of the three martyrdom,
Jose was very hurt with what happened to one
of his brother’s closest priest who is Fr. Jose
Burgos.

1878-1879 Rizal shifted to medicine for 2 reasons:


- He wanted to be a physician so that he might cure his mother’s failing eyesight.

- He consulted Father Pablo Ramon for a choice of career.

• While a freshman in UST, he took up a vocational course in Ateneo as perito agremensor or expert surveyor.

• He excelled in all subjects, obtaining gold medals in topography and agriculture.

• At the age of 17, he passed the final examination in the surveyinh course but was too young to be granted with the title.
