INTRODUCTION
NEED FOR STUDY

According to times of Indian survey delayed breastfeeding increases risk of


newborn deaths by up to 80 percent. Nearly one lakh children die every year in
India due to diseases that could have been prevented through breastfeeding.
Early initiation of breastfeeding & exclusive through can prevent nearly 99,499
deaths of children every year due to diarrhoea and pneumonia.

In TELENGANA, 22,046 underweight children born between March 2018 and


2019 in Rangareddy District has highest number of underweight babies,2006,
followed by Hyderabad district with 1,445 underweight babies,

Hence, the researcher felt there is need to conduct study on knowledge of


Human Milk Banks.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

Effectiveness of structured teaching program on knowledge of


Human Milk Bank among staff nurses in selected hospital,
Secunderabad, Telangana.
OBJECTIVES

- To assess the level of knowledge on Human Milk Bank among staff nurses
in terms of pretest and posttest score.

- To evaluate effectiveness of STP on Human Milk Bank among staff nurses.

- To associate the pretest knowledge, scores on Human Milk Bank among


staff nurses with their selected demographical variables.
HYPOTHESES

H1:- There will be significant increase in the mean post test knowledge score
on Human Milk Bank among staff at 0.05 level of significance.

H2 :- There will be significant association between knowledge scores on


Human Milk Bank among staff nurses with selected demographic variable at
0.05 level of significance.
OPERATIONAL DEFINITION

EFFECTIVENESS – In this study, it refers to the significant in the level of


knowledge of staff nurse through structured teaching plan of Human Milk
Bank.

STRUCTURED TEACHING PROGRAMME – In this study, it refers to a


structured set of information for 20 minutes by using ppt to create awareness
and spread knowledge to the staff nurses regarding Human Milk Bank.

KNOWLEDGE – It means the facts, skills and understanding that have


gained through learning and experience.

HUMAN MILK BANK – It is a service that collects, screens, processes, and


dispenses by prescription Human Milk Bank donated by nursing mothers who
are not biologically related to the recipient infant.
