Fats

Luca & Deyan

What are fats?
Fats are greasy substances found in the tissues of animals and some
plants. Many foods we eat contain these fats. Fats help the body absorb
vitamin A, D and E, the reason is because these vitamins are fat-soluble,
which means that they can only be absorbed with the help of fats.
Examples: meat, milk, eggs…

Sources of Fat
Most of the fats come from animal
sources including meat (beef, lamb,
pork) and dairy products(milk, cream ,
cheese)

Some plants also produce fats, such as

palm oil and coconut oil.
Strucutre of
Fats
• There are several types of
fats such as satured and
unsaturated
• The two first branches of
this fat are saturated and the
last branch is unsatured
because it is missing two
hydrogen atoms.
