FUME HOOD

A laboratory fume hood is a type of ventilation system that primarily

functions to provide personnel protection against toxic fumes, vapors
and dust. Its secondary function includes protection against chemical
spills, runaway reactions and fires by acting as a physical barrier.
CRUCIBLE
Used to heat various type of chemicals
that are required a very high temperature,
usually solid chemicals.
FILTERING FLASK
A filtering flask is a piece of labware used to
separate solids from fluids in filtration operations.
To filter substances, the flask is used with
a filtering funnel, such as a Buchner funnel, which
incorporates a fritted glass disc or perforated plate
fitted with a piece of filter paper to filter particles.
VOLUMETRIC
PIPETTE
Volumetric pipettes (transfer or belly
pipette) are used in volumetric analysis,
when there is a need for taking exact
smaller volume of a sample solution or
reagent. The uppertube of volumetric
pipette has a ringlike marking (mark)
which marks its calibrated volume.
CRUIBLE AND
COVER
Cruible are used for heating certain solids,
particularly metals, to very high temperatures.
The cover can be used to contain any smoke
particles
MEASURING
CYLINDER
The graduated cylinder is used for measuring volumes
(amounts) of liquids. This piece of equipment is used
routinely, although it is only moderately accurate
compared to other tools, such as volumetric flasks.
Volumetric flasks are used when absolute precision
(accuracy) is needed.
FUNNEL
Used to aid in the transfer of liquids
from one vessel to another, and will
hold filter paper while filtering. It may
be glass or plastic
MORTAR & PESTLE
Mortar and pestle are implements
used since ancient times to prepare
ingredients or substances by crushing
and grinding them into a fine paste or
powder.
HOTPLATE AND
MAGNETIC STIRRER
Controlled the heating directly or
using the hot plate to creat a heat
bath
FLORENCE FLASK
Used for the mixing of chemicals.
Narrow neck prevents splash
exposure
ANALYTICAL
BALANCE
Analytical balances are highly
sensitive lab instruments designed to
accurately measure mass.
TRIPOD
A laboratory tripod is a portable, three-
legged platform equipment, which is
usually made of lightweight metal such as
stainless steel and Aluminium so that it can
be moved conveniently within the lab. The
main usage is to support or hold the flasks
and beakers during experiments.
TEST TUBE
Test tubes are slender containers that hold
small amounts of liquid and are used in
scientific experiments. They can range
between 50 mm to 250 mm in length and
13 and 20 mm in width. Test tubes are
usually made of glass or plastic, but the
ones that are made of glass are able to be
used in heat-up situations
TEST TUBE RACK

Test tube racks are laboratory equipment used to hold upright multiple test tubes at the
same time. They are most commonly used when various different solutions are needed
to work with simultaneously, for safety reasons, for safe storage of test tubes, and to
ease the transport of multiple tubes.
DESICCATOR
Desiccators are sealable enclosures containing
desiccants used for preserving moisture-
sensitive items such as cobalt chloride paper for
another use. A common use for desiccators is to
protect chemicals which are hygroscopic or
which react with water from humidity it also
requires some time to achieve a low humidity.
BEAKER GLASS
It is used for mixing, stirring, and
heating chemicals. Most beakers
have spouts on their rims to aid in
pouring. They also commonly have
lips around their rims and markings
to measure the volume they
contain, although they are not a
precise way to measure liquids.
