telling the time.

Telling 1) Say the hour first and then


the minutes. (Hour 시 +
Minutes 분 )
Time 2) Say the minutes first and
then the hour.  (Minutes +
PAST / TO + Hour)

The common question forms we use to ask
for the time right now are:
What time is it?
What is the time?

A more polite way to ask for the time,


especially from a stranger is:
Could you tell me the time please?

when giving the time of a specific

12-24 hour = P.M

“ At hour 12, we say it’s “noon”. You
also sometimes hear people say
“midday”. At hour 24, we say it’s
“midnight”.

12 AM= 12 Midnight
(The start of a new day or 24 hour cycle.)

O’CLOCK.
8:00 = 8 o’clock

Hour)
For minutes 1-30 we use PAST after
the minutes.
For minutes 31-59 we use TO after the


minutes.
*The next hour will be used for the word ‘to’. The
remaining minutes of 60 minutes is used for the word
‘to’.
