Attitude
• Derived from the Italian word “attitudine”
which is traced to the Latin word “aptus”
meaning fitness.
• A settled way of thinking or feeling about
someone or something, typically one that
is reflected in a person's behaviour.
• Directly as a result of experience.

Types of Attitudes
Positive Attitude
• This is one type of attitude in
organizational behavior.
• Individuals who have a positive attitude
will pay attention to the good rather than
bad in people, situations, events.
• A positive attitude has many benefits
which affect out other kinds of behavior in
a good way.

Positive Attitude
 Confidence - is a good attitude and one of
the basic things on the list of positive
attitudes.
 Happiness - A happy mind is an abode for all
the good things to self.
 Sincerity - He or she is aware of the work to
be done, and they know that the only way out
of a situation is through it.
 Determination - A person who is driven and
properly determined will overcome all
impossibilities. 4
Types of Attitudes
Negative Attitude
• People with a negative attitude ignore the
good and pay attention to the bad in people,
situations, events, etc.
• They often find a way out of tough situations
by running away from it and often compare
themselves with other persons and find the
bad in them only.
• Exactly the opposite of the one with a positive
mindset. There are certain bad effects that a
person with a negative mindset has to face. 5
Negative Attitudes
Anger - A person with a negative
mindset is often found to be angry most
of the time.
Doubt - Self-doubt will lead to no
progress and will often lead to low
confidence.
Frustration - It is an irritant and will
keep preventing you from taking any
positive step forward.

Types of Attitudes
Neutral Attitude
People generally tend to ignore the
problems in life. They wait for some other
individual to take care of their problems.
They generally have a lazy life and they are
often unemotional.

Components of Attitudes
• Cognitive Component - This represents our
thoughts, beliefs and ideas about something.
Typically these come to light in generalities or
stereotypes
• Affective/Emotional Component - This
component deals with feelings or emotions
that are brought to the surface about
something
• Conative/Behavioral Component - This can
also be called the behavioral component and
centers on individuals acting a certain way
towards something. 8
