DEGREE OF POLYNOMIAL
 The highest degree or the greatest power of a
variable in a polynomial equation . The degree
indicates the highest exponential power in the
polynomial.
 Example – 6x^4 + 2x^3+3 is a polynomial.
Linear
 A linear equation is an algebraic equation of the
form y=mx + b . involving only constant and a
first-order term , where m is the slope and b is
the y-intercept . Occasionally , the above is called
a “linear equation of two variable’’.
QUADRATIC
 Any equation containing one term in which the
unknown is squared and no term in which it is
raised to higher power
 Formula = ax^2 + bx + c = 0
CUBIC POLYNOMIAL
 A cubic polynomial is a polynomial of degree 3 . A
uni variate cubic polynomial has the form . An
equation involving a cubic polynomial is called a
cubic equation
 Example = f (x)=8x^3 + 2x^2 – 3x + 15 , g(y)=y^3-
4y+11 are cubic polynomial .
COEFFICIENT AND TERMS
 A coefficient is a number that is multiply by a
variable that is , a number being multiplied by a
variable ,such as x, y, or z is called a coefficient .
 Example = y=6x+2
 A term can be a number , variable , product of
two or more variable or product of a number and
a variable
 Example= the expression 4x+y , there are two
term 4x and y .
ZEROS OF POLYNOMIAL
 It can be defined as the points where the
polynomial becomes zeros as a whole . A
polynomial having value zero (0) is called as zero
polynomial
 Example = x2+7x-18, the zero or the root will be 2
because,(2)2+72-18=4+14-18=0.
