The life and

achievements
of Nikola Tesla
Life

• Nikola was born on July 10,
1856  in Smiljan, Croatia
• Died on January 7, 1943 in New
York, USA
• Đuka Tesla gave birth to Nikola
when she was 34 years old.
• He  had 3 nationalites: Serbian,
American and Austrian
Nikola's family:
• Siblings: Marica Kosanović, Dane Tesla, Angelina Tesla, Milka
Tesla
• Parents: Milutin Tesla and Đuka Tesla
Life
• Nikola Tesla was one of the greatest engineers
in history.  He was an American engineer of
Serbian origin.
• Father of Nikola wanted him to be a priest, but
teacher of Nikola persuaded him to start
the engineering studies in Graz.
• When Nikola was 21 years old the electrical
engineering teacher revealed his talent and
offered him the job in telephone office in
Budapest. Nikola accepted this.
• After 1 year of working in the telephone office
Nikola moved to Paris.
• In 1884 he moved to USA.
Achievements
• Nikola was working on ways to use alternating current.
He built his first induction motor when he was 27 years
old.
• In 1888 he sold a patent for a system of dynamos,
transformers and inventories for alternating current.
• When Tesla was 37 years old he got a permission to
build his devices near the Niagara waterfall
• He has got 112 patents in USA for the things he
invented.
Tesla’s inventions include among others:

•AC Power (alternating current)

•Tesla Coil
•Magnifying Transmitter
•Tesla Turbine
•Shadowgraph
•Radio
•Neon Lamp
•Hydroelectric Power
•Induction Motor
•Radio Controlled Boat
AC power (Alternating
Current)
• One of the best achievements of Nikola
Tesla was AC power.
• Tesla created a polyphase electric motor
that uses the properties of this current
to create the effect of a rotating
magnetic field. That sort of drive was
more effective than previously used DC
(direct current) motors.
• Alternating current itself made it
possible to transmit power over long
distances, due to the fact that the
voltage could be easily raised with the
help of transformers
X-rays
Hardly one knows that Nikola Tesla was one of
the pioneers of roentgenology.
Tesla was experimenting with crooks' pipes.
Crook pipes are connected to high voltage
source.
Nikola observed the emission of penetrating
radiation, invisible to the human eye.
We generally recognize the German physicist
Wilhelm Roentgen as the founder of X-rays
being a type of high-energy electromagnetic
radiation.
Trivia
• He predicted smartphones in 1926
• At his first job in USA, he worked for Thomas Edison
• He was a renewable energy activist 120 years ago, he
discussed how to capture the power of the sun and the wind
• He never got the Nobel prize
• He wanted to make self-driving cars in the 19th century
• He did not achieve any college degree
