WHAT DOES A
PROFESSOR DO
A professor teaches students after the
high school level, conducts research
and publishes materials related to
their field of study

Professors can work at small colleges as

well as large universities

They engage in a variety of activities,

from running laboratory experiments
and supervising graduate student
research to conducting large
undergraduate lectures and writing
textbooks
CHALLENGES OF
BEING A
PROFESSOR
Professors in some academic areas and classes
struggle with students who are less motivated or less
capable than themselves

Another challenge is to remain positive and focus on

improving instruction while maintaining respect for
the classroom and the efforts of students
It's much easier for a college professor to get sued by
students who don't like her politics, religious beliefs

Some students sue if they don't like the grade they

get!
WAYS OF BEING
ETHICAL AS A
PROFESSOR
1. Discuss student progress or problems only with the
student. Students are adults and the Federal
Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), enacted in
1978, protects them against disclosure of critical
information
2. Do not accept payment from students for tutoring,
consulting or similar duties, which are a logical
extension of your role
3. Be careful about socializing with your students
4.   Do not make false statements in application of a position
5.   Do not misrepresent qualifications
6. Do not discriminate and embarrass any student
Being a Professor is a difficult job and an
important liability as you are in charge of the
future of the upcoming generation

There are some difficult challenges to face as a

Conclusion professor, such as not losing patience with
students and keeping their privacy

As a professor, importantly, you must not accept

tutoring lessons as this has become popular in
the recent years
