ALANINE AMINOTRANSFERASE

Alanine aminotransferase catalyzes the transfer of an amino


group from alanine to alpha-ketoglutarate in the alanine
cycle to form pyruvate and glutamate.
• Location in liver and significant concentrations are also found
in kidney, skeletal muscle, and myocardium.
• The primary clinical application of serum ALT measurement is
the detection and diagnosis of hepatic disease.
GAMMA GLUTAMYL TRANSPEPTIDASE

• (GGT) is essential to maintaining cysteine levels in the


body.
• GGT activity is localized in liver, kidney, and pancreas tissues.
• Application
This test is done for liver dysfunction.
This test can detect the slightest degree of cholestasis.
GGT is a good marker for pancreatic cancer.
