BIOMEDICAL WASTE(BMW) Means any waste, which


is generated during the diagnosis, treatment or
immunisation of human beings or animals or research
activities
The hospital is authorized by prescribed authority for
the management and handling of Bio- Medical Waste
Management (BMW).Proper segregation and
collection of BMW from all pt care areas of the hospital
is implemented and monitored.
Why Segregation is necessary?
Process of separation of waste based on the nature &
method of disposal.

Segregation at the generation site reduces infection


rate and the cost of handling and disposal of waste.
