The Cherokee wove baskets,made
beautiful quilts and blankets.they wove
beads and quills into motifs to represent
emotions and stories.
Traditional
dances
Cherokee dances wear earthy colors
including browns and greens mixed
with the primary colors, Kevin

Cherokee have adopted many
European customs. But many
Cherokee continue to practice and
preserve their traditions.’’

Women often held powerful positions in
Cherokee society, which was organized into
clans through the mother’s line. Cherokee
men oversaw village government and served
as warriors. In the early 1800’s, the
Cherokees developed a system of elections
and courts and in 1827, their first
Constitution.
